Now you have the capability to carry out experiments and investigations on
your own, knowing how to pump down and vent the reaction chamber using
the mechanical pump, bypass line, and venting system. The
Simulation Parameters control panel allows you to change the
following physical parameters of the system:
- Reaction chamber volume
- Mechanical pump speed
- Bypass conductance
- Vent gas source pressure
- Vent line conductance
Even ignoring the turbo pump portion of the simulator, this capability is sufficient
to test some of the behavior indicated earlier, such as:
- How does pumpdown rate depend on the mechanical pump speed, bypass conductance,
and chamber volume?
- How does venting rate depend on chamber volume, vent gas pressure, and vent line
conductance?
Use this functionality to devise your own experiments and to further your understanding
of how the system works. Test the conclusions you read earlier related to these
questions. See if you can redesign the system parameters to meet new performance
goals, e.g., match pumpdown time to venting time.
